Oriental Mindoro joins Partnerships for Integrity and Jobs Project (Project I4J)

Oriental Mindoro joins other local government units in the country in promoting integrity and transparency in the government through the Integrity for Jobs (I4J) Project with the support of the civil society and the business sector. Launched in the Philippines in 2014, I4J aims to encourage LGUs as key players for honest and efficient administrative procedures to provide a sustainable network for self-obligation and monitoring of transparent and uncorrupt structures and procedures. Oriental Mindoro and one of its municipalities, the local government of Naujan, are beneficiaries of I4J Project that is jointly implemented by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), the European Union and the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development through KAS. Partners agencies meanwhile include the Centrist Democracy Political Institute, European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, League of Cities of the Philippines, League of Municipalities of the Philippines and the League of Provinces of the Philippines. Other project beneficiaries are the following: Puerto Princesa City; San Carlos City; Cagayan de Oro; Tuburan; Iranun Cluster: (Barira, Buldon, Matanog and Parang) and provinces of Cebu and South Cotabato. According to, “the project aims to include LGUs as key players for clean administrative procedures into the Integrity Initiative set up by the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) and the Makati Business Club. It recognizes the role of LGUs as a sustainable network for self-obligation and monitoring of transparent and uncorrupt structures and procedures. It also aims to create models of transparent, effective small business and investment registration and promotion procedures and disseminate them.” Through the conduct of Focus Group Discussions, Integrity Initiative Project Coordinator Gerry Constantino introduced the project to the officials of the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM), representatives of the province’s civil society and the business sector. Provincial Administrator Nelson B. Melgar represented Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr. in said activity while the civil society was led by Bishop Warlito Cajandig. Forerunners of the province’s business community as well as PGOM department heads also participated in the activity. I4J project which is scheduled to conclude by December 2016 has four phases: Project Set-up Phase, Piloting Phase, Dissemination Phase and the Conclusion Phase. By virtue of the Special Order No. 59, Series of 2015 issued by Governor Alfonso V. Umali, Jr., the Integrity Circle for the Oriental Mindoro LGU was organized with the following composition: Hon.
