A new trailer for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle premiered during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024. No firm release date was given, and the trailer just reiterates a window of 2024.

The new trailer gave us a better look at what Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will play like when it launches later this year. The footage shown off features Indy in a frozen battleship in the Himalayas searching for an artifact before he is taken hostage and interrogated by Nazis. The scene is full of quick dialogue and improvisation, just like the source material.

Official Showcase Reveal: Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Xbox Games Showcase 2024

Gameplay is only shown in clips of Indie punching, whipping, and even frying-panning enemies with only a single gunshot presented. Despite MachineGames’ prior titles being so heavily gunplay-focused, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, at least at this point, appears to feature very little shooting.

Taking place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will center around Jones investigating the theft of a special artifact from Marshall College. His journey will lead him to a set of locations around the globe forming a circle, such as the Sukhothai temples in Thailand, Egyptian pyramids, and the Himalayas. Joining him on his quest will be investigative reporter Gina Lombardi.

This will be the first non-Wolfenstien or Quake title MachineGames has developed.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will a be a day-one addition to Game Pass when it eventually launches sometime in 2024.

A great platformer inspired by Banjo-Kazooie is getting a remaster
A screenshot from Yooka-Replaylee.

Yooka-Laylee, the 2017 3D platformer created by the former Rare developers at Playtonic who worked on games like Banjo-Kazooie, is getting a remaster called Yooka-Replaylee.

If you need a refresher, Yooka-Laylee was the first game from Playtonic. It had a successful Kickstarter and lots of pre-launch hype from fans waiting for a new game like Banjo-Kazooie. When it came out in 2017, Yooka-Laylee was pretty fun but had some problems when it came to late-game content, camera controls, and general polish. Playtonic has gone on to make the 2D platformer follow-up Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair as well as publish indie games like Demon Turf and Lil Gator Game, and is now returning to the game that started it all for them.

Xbox’s first big showcase of 2024 set Series X up for success
Indiana jones buried in the sand.

Xbox has long struggled with consistency and maintaining a steady stream of exclusives. Some years would be chock-full of exciting new games, while others were barren wastelands outside of a couple of smaller releases. After a turnaround in 2023, Xbox’s 2024 first-party game lineup is looking to be its most compelling in years. That's thanks to a successful Developer_Direct showcase that set Xbox on the right track this week.

It doesn’t feel like this year is relying too heavily on one studio or genre, and getting in-depth looks at what will likely be Xbox’s four big PC and console exclusive games of 2024 set my expectations in a clear manner. Coming off January 2024’s Developer_Direct, Xbox is poised for a good year ... if it can deliver in terms of quality with all these games.
