Star Wars Outlaws preload guide: release time, file size, and preorder

It’s strange to think that of all the best Star Wars games, not one has been a true open-world experience. Ubisoft is looking to fix that with Star Wars Outlaws, which is among the most anticipated upcoming games of 2024. Taking place between episodes 4 and 5 of the original trilogy, we will explore a new side of the galaxy far, far away through the eyes of Kay Vess and her little alien buddy, Nix. Combining stealth, shooting, space combat, and more, Star Wars Outlaws is looking like a breath of fresh air for a franchise that can’t seem to break away from the Force and lightsabers. But before you hop on your speeder and pull out your blaster, let’s plan out this heist by telling you all about the preload options, file size, and preorders for Star Wars Outlaws.

Star Wars Outlaws file size

For those who were worried that the first open-world Star Wars game would come with a massive file size, especially after what we saw with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you can rest easy.

Star Wars Outlaws is 50.82GB on PC and 49.23GB on PlayStation 5.

Star Wars Outlaws will support DLSS 3 when it launches this year

Nvidia revealed in a blog post that Ubisoft's Star Wars Outlaws will be on GeForce Now and use some of its proprietary technology when it launches sometime this year.

Specifically, Star Wars Outlaws will support DLSS 3 and RTX Direct Illumination to improve the game's visuals with ray traced global illumination lighting and effects. The announcement of these visual enhancements for PC and GeForce Now players is the first official update we've gotten on Star Wars Outlaws in a while. Ubisoft unveiled the game at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2023, and it left a strong impression. The game will follow Kay Vess, a new character and smuggler trying to survive in a galaxy still dominated by the Empire during the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi's events.

Disney confirms, then retracts Star Wars Outlaws release window

The first couple months of 2024 are jam-packed with games like Tekken 8, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and Princess Peach Showtime, but the fall calendar is currently much more of a mystery. An article from Disney today claimed that Star Wars Outlaws would be one of the fall's most notable AAA releases, but Ubisoft has since corrected that error and is keeping the highly anticipated game's release window at a vague "2024" for now.

Developed by Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora studio Massive Entertainment, Star Wars Outlaws looks like it will be an ambitious open-world game that will follow young smuggler named Kay Vess and her struggles during the time period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. It looks like the closest thing we'll ever get to a Star Wars version of Red Dead Redemption 2. Star Wars Outlaws impressed with showings at June 2023's Xbox Games Showcase and Ubisoft Forward, and previously only had a vague 2024 release window."
